GwMA's June 2021 Meeting Hosted By the City of Norcross

June 7
On June 2, 2021 GwMA members and guests were invited by the City of Norcross to hold their June session in the Norcross Community Center.  The event was held with appropriate masking and distancing precautions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Norcross Mayor Craig Newton greeted the attendees and spoke about Norcross.  Norcross is celebrating its sesquicentennial (150 years) of existence in 2020.  The City was established in 1870 and has much to celebrate with its history and plans for the future.

The guest speaker for this GwMA session was Laura Hernandez with the themes of sustainability and the state of recycling for our Gwinnett cities.
Laura is a Lawrenceville resident and a marketing and communications professional. Her efforts include engaging Gwinnett County residents to reduce the amount of trash they send to landfills and the environment. Laura is a member of the Sustainable Norcross Commission and is Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson's appointee to the new Gwinnett Sustainability Commission, where she plans to ramp up efforts to reduce waste and make Gwinnett County a global leader in sustainability.

GwMA sincerely appreciates Laura’s time spent with our city leaders and her personal contribution in making this event memorable with minimum waste and maximum recycling opportunities.
